Bachmann Model Trains – Good Quality Products at a Low Cost For the Model Railroad Newcomer

Originally founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bachmann model trains are now manufactured in China. The primary Bachmann entry-level train sets are currently their mainstay; they are inexpensive yet good quality models great for newcomers to railroading.

In the late 1980’s, the “Spectrum” trains were released; this was a higher quality product line with refined detailing, updated motors, and improved paint schemes. Originally, the Spectrum was considered a separate company from Bachman Industries, but by the year 2000 it became a part of the standard Bachmann product line.

In 2006, Bachmann focused on the development of a digital command control system (DCC) in a partnership with German based Lenz Electronic. Once released, this enabled Bachmann to gain market status alongside the rest of the technologically developed DCC companies.

From the Bachmann standard line of trains on the U.S. site is a product line known as “The Big Hauler” in the G scale at 1:22.5.
