SELMA – A 51 yr-outdated person is experiencing rates soon after Selma Law enforcement explained he led them on a high velocity chase, at situations traveling devoid of any headlights. Gary Wayne Cooper of Homestead Road, Selma was arrested following wrecking his 2004 Honda Pilot SUV on Little Devine Road at Highway 96 North.
At 8:34pm Wednesday, a police officer was on routine patrol when she spotted the SUV in the parking lot at Massey Wheel Alignment on W. Noble Street with its headlights illuminating a pile of tires at the rear of the organization. The officer designed call with the specific, afterwards identified as Gary Wayne Cooper, who claimed he understood the operator and experienced authorization to just take tires. Even so, he was not able to give the officer the title of the enterprise operator or explain why he was there immediately after several hours.
Police reported Cooper previously experienced 1 tire on best of his SUV. The officer manufactured Cooper return the tire to the pile and documented his title and personal data for a follow up investigation.
As Cooper was leaving the parking great deal, a dispatcher radioed the officer there was an excellent warrant for his arrest for probation violation.
The officer received behind the Honda Pilot and attempted to pull Cooper in excess of on Noble Avenue but he accelerated. The chase ongoing onto Buffalo Street with the suspect passing autos in the left lane. Later on, Cooper turned off his headlights to try to steer clear of pursuing officers.
Selma Law enforcement dropped sight of the auto on Tiny Devine Highway but moments later on Johnston County deputies found the motor vehicle had crashed into a ditch at the intersection of Freeway 96 North.
Cooper complained of minor accidents and was transported to the medical center for analysis before becoming taken to the Johnston County Jail. He was billed with felony fleeing to elude arrest, exceeding the posted speed limit and speeding 80 mph. He was also served with the probation violation warrant. Bail was set at $100,000. The SUV was also seized.
