Knife-wielding man dies in police custody after acting erratically in public, HPD says

HOUSTON – Houston Police Department officials say a person who was armed with a knife died in police custody Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, officers had been known as to the 9700 block of Beechnut Avenue about the gentleman. HPD officers say when they arrived, they discovered a person acting erratically in the center of the road.

Officers say before they arrived on the scene, witnesses reported seeing the person inside a gasoline station, throwing points all over the retailer, and rolling on the floor.

Authorities say the man by some means acquired a knife in advance of likely outside the house and leaping in and out of website traffic with the weapon in hand.

When officers arrived all around 1:47 p.m., they say they located the guy on the ground exterior. Officers then reportedly placed him in handcuffs and in a police device.
