VW dealers want answers on Scout EV brand after being caught off guard

On Friday, May 13, VW of America revenue and advertising and marketing head Andrew Savvas despatched a letter to the brand’s 650 sellers, confirming that Scout will be an impartial brand inside VW Group and that they will have no declare on its items.

The letter did not feel to soothe dealers’ fears with VW’s ideas.
Diess thinks that the German automaker can keep a 10 % industry share throughout all of its brands in the U.S., and he tasked VW of The us CEO Scott Keogh with making that take place by the close of the 10 years. Keogh has stated it would be tough to hit that focus on without the need of “playing” in the pickup phase, which represents about 15 % of the all round U.S. industry.

VW Team CFO Arno Antlitz explained that Scout “will be a different device and brand name in the Volkswagen Team to be managed independently. This aligns with the new team steering product — smaller units that act agilely and have access to our tech platforms to leverage synergies.” No executives for the new unit and brand name have been named.

VW sellers in the U.S. have been inquiring for a pickup in their lineup for decades, one more vendor, speaking on issue of anonymity, informed Automotive News. The seller mentioned that if VW Team intends to provide Scout cars by way of franchises, “I would hope, soon after all that we have been as a result of together, that we would at the very least get the 1st crack at them.”
